Bangor come back
to take point

Result: Knockbreada 3, Bangor Ladies 3

Bangor Ladies football club got back on track with a four point haul in their last two league games - striker Deidre Savage notching up five goals to get the club moving in the right direction - back up the league table after a recent two game slump.

With two games in a week, it was Christina McNamara who opened the ladies account putting Bangor ahead in the first match, a re-scheduled league match against Knockbreda last Monday.

Only for the home side to draw quickly level - another mix up between Gemma Black and Kim Dockery letting in the Knockbreda striker for a simple tap in.

Playing without a regular goalkeeper for the last series of league games has proved very difficult for the team to react to and this has led to some defensive changes which has affected the balance of the side.

Bangor's Trish Webb has settled in at right back

Knockbreda added a quick fire brace before the break and at half time the Bangor visitors certainly had it all to do 3-1 down.

But undeterred the Seasiders' have shown good character and despite gifting away a number of goals, the resolve and determination with has been the backbone of the North Down outfit has been rewarded with a good response high up the pitch with Savage and Mahood working hard.

With the width of the side Scott and McNamara are always going to get behind defences with their pace - and with Bangor starting to turn on the football in the second half - top goalscorer Deirdre Savage was there again with a double to level the score.

Bangor were now in control and sensing the winner, the Seasiders' set seige to the Knockbreda goal - and first Mahood had a chance and then Duncan bursting through from midfield went close.

From another break out from the back - again Savage was on her way and deciding to chip the advancing keeper who instinctively stopped the effort just outside the penalty area.

The referee decided to follow the letter of the law and send the Knockbreda goalkeeper off - a very harsh decision and one which certainly irritated the hom support. Dockery's resulting spot kick sailed just by the top corner.

Bangor continued to press forward in search of the winner but time was running out.

Christina McNamara open the scoring against Knockbreda

The final chance of a pulsating last fifteen minutes produced a great save from the stand in keeper with her feet, making sure that Knockbreda held on for a point.

Dee Savage hit the hat-trick against Crumlin

Savage hat-tricks

Result: Crumlin 2 Bangor Ladies 3

The club followed this up with a 3-2 win again away,
this time against Crumlin two days later. The highlight being a hat-trick from in-form Deirdre Savage which secured all three points.

With the half point fast approaching the Seasiders are content to consolidate their fourth position at the top of the league table - the side are not firing on all cylinders yet but despite playing well below par are certainly capable of maintaining their status in the top half of the league table - one of their main goals of the season.
