Bangor Business Backs Seasiders
Bangor Ladies, the ladies section of Bangor Football Club, are delighted to announce a partnership with Bingham Street, Hyundai franchise Sammy Mellon & Sons. The long established firm agreeing to be the sole sponsors of Bangor Ladies this season.
The Bangor based company have a long association with local football, spanning a number of years and also have been ardent supporters of Bangor Football Club, right from the Senior Section through to the development of youth football.
Sammy Mellon, a stalwart and highly respected business figure in the North Down Borough is the current vice chairman of the Seasiders - so his support along with that of Bangor Chairman Trevor Best solidifies the status of the Ladies Section at Clandeboye Park.
Ladies football, currently one of the fastest growing sports in the world, needs people to respect the validity of the sport and also embrace the opportunity to develop the game at all levels. With the growing numbers of females participating at all ages - the sport is free for the prejudice stereo type imagery from today society.
More evident in the education section, where recently, there has been the establishment of structured and creditable junior set up which is inclusive at both Primary and Secondary school level, This see girls football part now featuring alongside the more traditional sports like hockey, netball and badminton The association and inclusion of ladies football at the Irish League club, mean Bangor Ladies have a more acceptable and attractive set up than most of the 50 or so ladies under the umbrella of the sports governing body - the Northern Ireland Women’s Football Association (N.I.W.F.A.). Primarily thanks to the vision of Trevor Best and Chief Executive Bill Peden, the Clandeboye Park side have now established firm links with Bangor Ladies, formerly North Down Ladies Football Club, following an approach two seasons ago.
 NI international Ashley Hutton, playing for Bangor Ladies This has seen the ladies section become more integrated and are now enjoying having the opportunity of playing a number of their league matches on the 95m x 60m surface at Clandeboye Road. lifting the profile of the sport locally and making it more accessible Indeed, as a direct consequence of inclusion at Bangor Football, Robinson Crescent teenager and Northern Ireland International Ashley Hutton was able to secure a professional contract with Icelandic Premiership side Fylkir F.C. . This has also attracted players like Rachel Bates, Leanne McGarry and Bridget Finegan who have committed to Bangor Ladies directly as a the association of Bangor Football Club, which went through re-modernising just a few years as the club pushed for a place in the Premier Division. . With this recent development, the securing of sponsorship with the Bingham Street Hyundai dealer, the club will be hoping to continue to develop the sport in the community. The ladies will be furnished with a new kit shortly - featuring the traditional Bangor colours of blue and yellow, and carrying both the Sammy Mellon and Hyundai logos. The strip Yellow shirts, blue shorts and socks, will be numbered 1 – 16 and be available very shortly.

How To Get To Clandeboye Park From Belfast, take the A2 to Bangor and just before the town centre turn right at the traffic lights directly after the railway bridge. Continue past the church and turn right into Clandeboye Road. The ground is situated on the right after a quarter of a mile. .
