Training starts next weekend - Bloomfield Road, Bangor, 1.45 p.m.
Bangor Ladies are ready to kick-off 2010 Season One more week and the waiting is over
Bangor Ladies, the ladies section of Bangor Football Club, are about to make ready to take up the gauntlet of Division Two football in the Northern Ireland Women’s Football Association, as the club officially kicks off their 2010 pre-season campaign next Sunday, 21st February, at Bloomfield Road, Bangor at 1.45 p.m.
Training, under the successful partnership of Andy Craig and Leanne McGarry, the 2009 division three champions will begin an intensive 8 weeks of hard work in order to get back the momentum which saw the side maintain an unbeaten status in league fixtures. An impressive 17 match run which stretches right back to August 2008, which has led to the footballers being nominated for the North Down Sports Advisory Councils "Team of the Year”. The result of this category along with the "Sportsperson of the Year”, which incidentally features Bangor striker Natasha Lee, will be announced at an awards ceremony scheduled for April 30th.
The Seasiders' having lifted their first title last September, have not been in action at all, over the last six months. So, the focus now will be to get the whole squad back playing again as soon as possible with their first competitive game planned for March 7th away to a very useful Blackieville Ladies F.C. in South Belfast.
Bangor take on the formidable premiership side Cliftonville Ladies at home
The Seasiders’ follow this opening fixture up with a tough home game at Clandeboye Park, just two days later on Tuesday 9th, taking on the formidable Cliftonville Ladies from the top flight Premier Division. This one is the second of an intensive pre-season programme, designed to provide match sharpness and let the squad get back into the demands of playing regularly again. An away fixture at Inver Park on Wednesday 17th March will see the Seasiders back in action against local side Larne Ladies. Games will quickly follow against Crumlin, Saint Matthews and Glenavon all in the space of 3 weeks so their will be plenty of football played before the 2010 campaign will get under way in late April.

BUSY MARCH LINE UP
With the club combining this busy schedule with training every Sunday afternoon, from 1.45 p.m. at Bloomfield Road, where the coaches will concentrate in identifying and working on the key elements required to develop a talented modern football team. With all the preparation in place off the pitch it will just be down to the players to continue to show the positive attitude and work ethic which brought the title to Clandeboye Park following what proved a phenomenal season of football.
The fundamental attributes, being applied by the coaches are basic and demanding: improving the strength, condition and general physical condition of the whole squad; assessing and improving the overall technical ability of each player; and finally teaching the key tactical responsibilities to each member of the squad, in regard to their particular assigned position.
Good news is that there are a few potential new players making enquiries about joining this season, as the management are always keen to strengthen the squad in all departments. In consideration of the fact that the Seasiders are up a division and the statistic, that despite a 24 strong squad at the outset of the previous two seasons, this still proved to be too thin when the injuries started to pile up.
Carolyn Scott, made a big impact with goals in the last pre-season fixtures.
