Bangor Ladies triumph at N.D.S.A.C. Sports Awards
 Bangor Ladies - NDSAC Team of the Year 2009 Bangor Ladies, the ladies section at Clandeboye Park triumphed last night (30th) as Team of the Year at The Marine Court Hotel in this year’s North Down Sports Advisory Council’s sports awards.
Club captain Cathy Duncan and Assistant Manager Leanne McGarry lifted the trophy for the unbeaten 2009 division 3 league champion, from former Manchester United player and Northern Ireland International Keith Gillespie at the 23rd Annual Awards evening.
This award in recognition of what was an outstanding season in 09 with the Seasiders statistically ending the summer as the No. 1 ladies football team in the whole of Northern Ireland.
The local ladies football club founded in 2006 and sponsored by local Hyundai dealers Sammy Mellon and Sons, joined Bangor in 2007 and with the support of Chairman Trevor Best have now established themselves as the Borough's only official ladies football club.

Also recognised were the achievements of Bangor's young striker Natasha Lee, of Bangor Ladies Football Club, who along with Mark Patterson, of North Down Athletic Club, Clare Dawson, of Bangor Swimming Club, Rachel Mitchell, of North Down Cycling Club, and Carnalea Karate Club’s David Brashaw were nominated for the sportsperson of the year award 2009.
Nominations for the sports team of the year were Bangor Ladies Football Club, Bangor Swimming Club Teletots Team, along with North Down Special Olympics Club Ulster Games Team, ,and North Down Athletic Club Senior Ladies Team and finally Pickie Mid-Week Bowling Team. Bangor Ladies coming through and winning The Bruce Milligan Cup following an unprecedented 2009 record breaking season. Although delighted, Bangor Ladies acknowledge the level of these nominations and wish all these clubs, players and supporters well. As sports people, we know it is the being part and taking part that is the reward for us all.
Meanwhile, the young sportsperson category was decided between rugby player Philip Whyte, of Bangor Grammar School, Eden Brown, of La Chance de Danser, Ross Adair, of Holywood Cricket Club, Nathan Dorrian, of Northern Cyclones Inline Hockey Club, Glen Willis, of North Down Athletic Club, swimmer Emma Reid, from Ballyholme Primary, Jordan Sloan, of Bangor Swimming Club, and Bangor Central pupil Rhys McNeil, who were nominated for athletics and football.
Daniel Allen, of North Down Special Olympics Club, took the young volunteer award.
Gillian Weir, of North Down Athletic Club and North Down Special Olympics Club, Harry Adams, of North Down Cycling Club, and Arlene Clarke, of Rathgael Gymnastics and Trampolining Club were nominated for the Bruce Mulligan award.
